Basketball Game Preview: Excelsior Springs Tigers vs. Richmond Spartans

Excelsior Springs hasn't had much luck against Richmond recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will square off against the Spartans at 5:30 p.m. Excelsior Springs will be strutting in after a victory while Richmond will be coming in after a loss.

Excelsior Springs had to kick off their season on the road back in November, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 56-42 win over East.

Meanwhile, Richmond took a blow against Winnetonka on Friday, falling 71-42.

Excelsior Springs will need to focus on slowing down Nolan Quick, one of several Richmond players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 21 points. The contest was Quick's ninth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Moyer, who put up nine points and four steals.

Excelsior Springs was dealt a bruising 66-29 defeat at the hands of Richmond in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
