Basketball Recap: Ava Sanderson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mount Vernon

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against King's Ridge Christian, Walker was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Mount Vernon Mustangs by a score of 31-20. For the Wolverines, this counts as revenge for the 48-37 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2017.

Walker's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Sanderson, who posted seven points in addition to nine boards and eight steals. Jada Johnson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds.

Walker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Walker's win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Walker didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 37-30 loss against The Weber School on the 14th. As for Mount Vernon, they will be playing at home against Mount Pisgah Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
