Flag Football Recap: Burroughs Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Karisma Mendez and Geneva Kiefer

Burroughs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Simi Valley Pioneers. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly six points.

Burroughs' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Geneva Kiefer, who picked up 76 receiving yards and one score, and Karisma Mendez, who threw for 134 yards and one touchdown. Kiefer also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making four total tackles and defending two passes.

Burroughs' defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Simi Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-11.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Burroughs will face off against rival Village Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Simi Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Moorpark at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
