Basketball Recap: La Joya Beats Pharr-San Juan-Alamo for Their Third Straight Win

La Joya had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears 69-54. The Coyotes pushed the score to 54-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears cut but never quite recovered from.

La Joya's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Trevino led the charge by going 8 of 18 on his way to 25 points and five steals. Trevino continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Morales, who went 6 for 12 en route to 18 points and eight rebounds.

La Joya is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-17 record this season. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-18.
