Basketball Game Preview: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. St. Paul Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Sandy Creek Cougars face off against the St. Paul Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday... Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Sandy Creek came up short against St. Cecilia and fell 41-29.

Meanwhile, St. Paul was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 39-19 to Aurora. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Huskies since January 2, 2016.

Sandy Creek will have to contain Charlee Wegner as she made an impact in St. Paul's last game. She posted eight points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. Wegner has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

St. Paul now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Sandy Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

Sandy Creek beat St. Paul 50-37 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sandy Creek since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
