Basketball Recap: Rivercrest Takes a Loss

The matchup between Rivercrest and Westside on Friday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Colts were outmatched by the Warriors and fell 68-40. The Colts have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Rivercrest saw an underclassman step up: freshman Armani Facon posted 16 points along with six boards and four steals. Facon is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gabby Harris, who earned seven points.

Rivercrest's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Westside, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Coming up, Rivercrest will venture away from home to challenge Newport at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Westside, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-48 loss against Buffalo Island Central on the 13th.
