Softball Recap: Onekama Find Success

Onekama owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Pentwater Falcons. The Portagers haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Hailey Hart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Hart was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.

In other batting news, Onekama let Heather Zielinski and Jasmine Lapp run wild. Zielinski scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Lapp went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Mauntler, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Onekama was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pentwater only posted a batting average of .000.

Onekama's record is now 2-0.

Coming up, Onekama will welcome Ludington at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Portagers are facing the Orioles at the right time seeing as the Orioles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pentwater, they will take on Brethren at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
