Softball Recap: Abingdon Has No Trouble Against West Geauga

Abingdon entered their tilt with West Geauga on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Wolverines. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Falcons this season.

Lauren Baker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Baker was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maggie Crabtree, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brenna Green, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

Abingdon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Geauga only posted an OBP of .412.

Abingdon's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for West Geauga, they dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Abingdon will head out to take on Mishicot at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for West Geauga, they will venture away from home to square off against Perry at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
