Football Recap: Junipero Serra Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Junipero Serra fell victim to De La Salle and their airtight defense on Saturday. They lost 26-0 to the Spartans. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, the Padres' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Caleb Bandel threw for 43 yards on seven of 14 attempts. Malakai Taufoou was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards. On the ground, Iziah Singleton rushed for 39 yards.

De La Salle had a senior duo take command as Brayden Knight rushed for 36 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Brady Smith rushed for 70 yards and one TD. The Spartans also got a significant boost from Jaden Jefferson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.

Junipero Serra's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for De La Salle, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Junipero Serra is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on St. John Bosco at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for De La Salle, they will head out to face off against Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
