Basketball Recap: Fort Wayne Northrop Piles Up the Points Against Faith Christian

Fort Wayne Northrop won the last time they faced Faith Christian and things went their way on Saturday too. The Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins breezed by the Faith Christian Eagles to the tune of 73-32. The Bruins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Fort Wayne Northrop's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khala Williams-Thomas, who went 9 of 13 on her way to 19 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Swynn Jackson, who posted eight points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Fort Wayne Northrop smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mattea Maggio, who put up 22 points. Maggio's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Hill, who had eight points.

Fort Wayne Northrop's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Faith Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Fort Wayne Northrop will host Bellmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Wayne Northrop is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Bellmont a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
