Softball Recap: Christian Academy Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Crawford County Wolfpack 4-3. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolfpack, too.

Carly Stevens spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natalie McKain, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Reagan Smith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Crawford County, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Academy will host South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crawford County, they will welcome Forest Park at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
