Recap: Pima Roughriders vs. St. David Tigers
The St. David Tigers typically have all the answers at home, but on Monday the Pima Roughriders proved too difficult a challenge. They enjoyed a cozy 38-23 victory over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back wins for Pima.
Sadie Richardson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ady Hoopes, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Despite the loss, St. David still got an impressive performance from Anissa Jacquez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. Jacquez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 21 times she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, St. David struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Pima has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for St. David, their loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-2.
Pima won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bisbee at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Bisbee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Pima is ranked 28th). As for St. David, they will head out on the road to face off against Benson at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Benson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Tuesday.
