Basketball Game Preview: Desert View Jaguars vs. Poston Butte Broncos

Desert View hasn't had much luck against Poston Butte recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Desert View Jaguars will be taking part in a tournament against the Poston Butte Broncos at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Desert View is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 76-65 to Maricopa.

Despite the loss, Desert View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Xaime Reyes posted 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reyes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Robert Medrano, who had eight points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Poston Butte played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Horizon 70-33. The game marked the Broncos' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Desert View's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Poston Butte, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Desert View was taken down by Poston Butte 69-37 when the teams last played back in February of 2018. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Poston Butte's Cory Barnes, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 18 points.
