Softball Recap: Wooster Comes Up Short

Wooster had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it ten. They came up short against the Jackson Polar Bears, falling 15-7. The Generals were not able to make up for their loss to the Polar Bears from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Jackson, their win bumped their record up to 8-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.

For Jackson's part, Abbigail Seders spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. Seders has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Madi Veno was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Smith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Jackson beat Wooster by a score of 15-7 later that day.
