Basketball Recap: Brashier Middle College Charter Takes a Loss

After flying high against Greenville Tech Charter last Tuesday, Brashier Middle College Charter came back down to earth. The Brashier Middle College Charter Bengal were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 70-69 to the Blacksburg Wildcats. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), the Bengal still had to take the loss.

Defeat or not, Brashier Middle College Charter got some senior leadership from Ridge Bryson and Andrew Hutchens. Bryson went 8 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points, while Hutchens posted 14 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bryson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Caelin Fluker, who had seven points and five assists.

It was another big night for Cameron Cobb, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds for Blacksburg. The team also got some help courtesy of Saad Lavender, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Brashier Middle College Charter has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Blacksburg, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10.

Brashier Middle College Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brashier Middle College Charter is facing Liberty at the right time seeing as Liberty is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Blacksburg, they will face off against High Point Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th.
