Basketball Recap: Halifax Academy Takes a Loss

Halifax Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were beaten by the Fayetteville Academy Eagles 86-42. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while the Eagles are ranked 111th).

Despite the loss, Halifax Academy still got an impressive performance from Landon Peoples, who went 10 for 12 en route to 25 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Oliver Anderson, who posted seven points.

Fayetteville Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brady Barnes led the charge by putting up 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Williams, who scored 19 points.

Halifax Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Fayetteville Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.

When Halifax Academy and Fayetteville Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Halifax Academy will square off against Harrells Christian Academy and their six-game winning streak at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Halifax Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Fayetteville Academy will try to stop Freedom Christian Academy's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
