Childersburg has gone a perfect 10-0 against Comer recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Childersburg will be playing at home against Comer at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Childersburg has four straight victories, Comer has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Childersburg proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Thorsby, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since March 10th.
Madison Brooks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Kelsie Kelley was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Comer lost 10-2 to Thorsby on Thursday.
Comer saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Tyler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was Tyler's first of the season.
The victory got Childersburg back to even at 14-14. As for Comer, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Childersburg's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. Childersburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Comer, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Childersburg continue to outrun the ball?
Childersburg took their win against Comer when the teams last played last Thursday by a conclusive 20-0 score. Will Childersburg repeat their success, or does Comer has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
