The Orange Panthers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Southeast Alamance Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Orange is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against South Granville. Orange blew past South Granville 10-1 on Wednesday.
Addison Guentensberger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Katie Carden, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs. Another player making a difference was Allie Carden, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
Orange was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Granville only posted a batting average of .115.
Meanwhile, Southeast Alamance made easy work of Northwood on Friday and carried off a 16-2 victory. The Stallions have beaten the Chargers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Chargers has come to flipping the script.
Tatum Shelton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Shelton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Ava Wheeley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Anna Thomas was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Everything went Orange's way against Southeast Alamance in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Orange made off with an 18-6 win. Does Orange have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southeast Alamance turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
