Preview: Escalante Moquis vs. Panguitch Bobcats
Escalante is 0-10 against Panguitch since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Escalante Moquis will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panguitch Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Escalante scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Telos 77-39 at home. Escalante has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Escalante's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendal Gardner, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayce Jenkins, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Panguitch entered their tilt with Piute with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Panguitch took down Piute 56-42 on Wednesday.
Panguitch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daxton Miller out in front who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cache Eyre, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Escalante's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Panguitch, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Escalante was taken down by Panguitch 80-25 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Escalante, Klyn Fullmer (who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
