Baseball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

If Centennial was riding high fresh off their 18-2 takedown of Danville on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chargers fell just short of the Westville Tigers by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Tate Sauer made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Centennial has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Westville, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 20-11.

Coming up, Centennial will square off against Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Westville, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Arcola at 4:30 p.m. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Purple Riders have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
