Basketball Recap: Munroe Skates Past Wakulla with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Munroe on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Wakulla War Eagles out of the water with a 72-32 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bobcats had established a 36 point advantage.

Munroe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zy Reese, who went 8 for 13 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. Those 18 points gave Reese a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zelden Chukes, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Munroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wakulla only pulled down six offensive boards.

Despite the loss, Wakulla saw an underclassman step up: freshman Trent Barwick almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

The victory was the third in a row for Munroe, bringing their record for this year to 16-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Wakulla, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Munroe and Wakulla are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Munroe will square off against Sneads on Monday. Munroe is facing Sneads at the right time seeing as Sneads is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Wakulla, they will challenge Godby at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
