Softball Game Preview: Pelham Pythons vs. Milford Spartans

The Pelham Pythons will head out to take on the Milford Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Pelham easily dispatched Hollis-Brookline last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Pythons fell just short of Lebanon by a score of 2-0 on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Pythons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Caileigh Aguiar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 15 Ks.

Meanwhile, Milford has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.88 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Souhegan.

Arabelle Danforth made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Nadia Dutton also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Milford's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for Pelham, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Pelham might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Milford in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Pythons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
