Basketball Recap: Springfield Victorious

Springfield posted their closest victory since January 31st on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-59 win over the Purcell Marian Cavaliers. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cavaliers, too.

Springfield has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 63.5 points this season. As for Purcell Marian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Springfield will venture away from home to challenge Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Purcell Marian, they are taking a road trip to take on La Salle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
