Softball Recap: Ben Davis Takes a Loss

Ben Davis extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-7. They lost 18-4 to the Martinsville Artesians. The Giants were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Artesians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

As for Martinsville, the victory snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 2-13 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Martinsville's part, Grace Cook tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Martinsville got a massive performance out of Mylee Bunton, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Corrynne Gregory, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Ben Davis will square off against Christel House at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Martinsville, they have already played their next matchup, an 11-1 win against Speedway on the 25th.
