Vela was handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest on Tuesday. The Vela Sabercats blew past the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas 82-15. The Sabercats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Vela to victory were Gabby Jaramillo and Aurora Guzman. Jaramillo dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards, while Guzman posted 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Those 12 boards gave Jaramillo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Renee Cruz, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 11 points.

Vela smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive games.

Vela's victory bumped their record up to 24-10. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they are on a 38-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-21.

As of now, neither Vela nor Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest have any future games scheduled.
