Basketball Preview: Eldon Mustangs vs. Tipton Cardinals
The Eldon Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Tipton Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Eldon focused on turnovers this week as the team gave up 23 on Monday.
Last Monday, Eldon strolled past Versailles with points to spare, taking the game 58-42.
Eldon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaydin Davis led the charge by going 6 for 13 en route to 17 points plus eight rebounds and three steals. Delaney Mcghay was another key player, posting eight points in addition to seven steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, Tipton took care of business in their home opener two weeks ago (and then some). They breezed by Union to the tune of 71-39. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cardinals had established a 21 point advantage.
Tipton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charlee Bailey, who went 9 for 16 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points plus four steals. Those nine threes gave Bailey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Williams, who went 7 for 12 en route to 19 points plus eight rebounds and six assists.
