Football Preview: Jarrell Cougars vs. Llano Yellowjackets
The Jarrell Cougars will venture away from home to square off against the Llano Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jarrell will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Jarrell beat Caldwell 30-26.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Llano, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 20-13 win over Marble Falls on Friday.
Trey Mote had a dynamite game for Llano, rushing for 162 yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance gave Mote a new career-high in rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayton Shaw, who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown.
He was just one part of a punishing run game: Llano was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marble Falls only rushed for 88.
Llano's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Carsten Hays and Jd Friday. Hays is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Tate Morgan was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Jarrell's record now sits at 3-0. As for Llano, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Jarrell ended up a good deal behind Llano when the teams last played back in August of 2023, losing 28-13. Can Jarrell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
