Midview is 9-1 against Avon Lake since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Middies will be playing at home against the Shoremen at 4:45 p.m. Midview has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Midview is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Steele on Monday. They came up short against the Comets, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Middies have suffered against the Comets since April 4, 2022.
Midview saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nina Ballachino, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Avon Lake had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Elyria 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Shoremen have posted since April 26, 2024.
Emerson Burgess spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Briana Webster, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Olivia Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Avon Lake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Avon Lake picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Midview, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Midview took their victory against Avon Lake when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Middies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Shoremen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
