Basketball Recap: Casey-Westfield Comes Up Short

Casey-Westfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Paris Tigers and fell 59-24. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while the Tigers are ranked 51st).

Despite the loss, Casey-Westfield had strong showings from Lucy Moore, who went 8 of 17 en route to 16 points and eight boards, and Jayla Roberts, who posted six points. That was a full 66.7% of Casey-Westfield's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Casey-Westfield's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Paris, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Casey-Westfield has already played their next contest (against Mt. Carmel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Paris will face off against Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
