Volleyball Recap: Elijah Pomales Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Westmoreland

Rome Free Academy won the last time they faced Westmoreland and things went their way on Monday too. The Rome Free Academy Black Knights were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over the Westmoreland Bulldogs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Black Knights.

One reason for the win was Rome Free Academy's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19, 25-9.

Rome Free Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elijah Pomales, who had six digs and three aces. Another player making a difference was Sean Ginter, who had 14 digs and five aces.

Pomales wasn't the only good server: Rome Free Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in five consecutive matchups.

Rome Free Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-5. As for Westmoreland, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Rome Free Academy is taking a road trip to challenge Chittenango at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chittenango will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Rome Free Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Westmoreland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
