Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. San Pasqual Golden Eagles

The Mt. Carmel Sundevils are taking a road trip to face off against the San Pasqual Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Carmel's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so San Pasqual's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mt. Carmel took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mission Hills, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Sundevils have posted against the Grizzlies since April 9, 2015.

Shane Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits.

On the hitting side, Ethan Coyle was excellent, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. Atticus Enriquez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, San Pasqual waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Wildcats.

With the victory, Mt. Carmel broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-7. As for San Pasqual, their record is now 13-4.

Mt. Carmel couldn't quite get it done against San Pasqual in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Sundevils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
