Softball Recap: South Warren Now 20-1 over Last 21 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only South Warren walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Greenwood Gators with a sharp 11-4 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 26 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Layla Ogden made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on McLaine Hudson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Hadley Borders was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

South Warren hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive games.

South Warren has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 21 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Greenwood, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 30-8 record.

As of now, neither South Warren nor the Gators have any future games scheduled.
