Baseball Recap: Thomas Jefferson Takes a Loss

Thomas Jefferson extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-14 in the process. They came up short against the Northfield Nighthawks, falling 11-1. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Nighthawks when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Northfield, their record now sits at 15-3. The result was nothing new for the Nighthawks, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Northfield's part, Jacob Lawson looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Lawson has posted over his last four contests.

On the hitting side, Northfield let Eli Jackson and Cooper Haslar run wild. Jackson went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Haslar went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Jackson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Ryder Wicks also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Coming up, Thomas Jefferson will take on Lutheran at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northfield, they will square off against Gateway at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
