Baseball Recap: Orchard Park Gets the Win

Orchard Park's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Hamburg Bulldogs 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Quakers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Luke Staniszewski made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other pitching news, Lincoln Tranquilli looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Zachary Huber was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Orchard Park has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Hamburg, they dropped their record down to 8-5-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Orchard Park and Hamburg should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Quakers will face off against Lancaster at 5:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (96 vs. 202). Meanwhile, Hamburg (ranked 75th) will meet Starpoint (ranked 428th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
