Preview: Pasquotank County Panthers vs. Currituck County Knights

Pasquotank County is 0-10 against Currituck County since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pasquotank County Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Currituck County Knights at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Pasquotank County had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Manteo with a sharp 83-59 victory on Tuesday.

Pasquotank County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandon Smith out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Smith pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jamari Seymore was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Currituck County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They strolled past Holmes with points to spare, taking the game 64-47.

Currituck County found their leader in underclassman Jamie Dance, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Luke Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Pasquotank County's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14. As for Currituck County, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pasquotank County have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Currituck County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
