Preview: Lakeside Dragons vs. Conneaut Spartans
The Lakeside Dragons will head out on the road to square off against the Conneaut Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lakeside is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 20-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-25, which was the final score in Lakeside's tilt against Geneva on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Lakeside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 718th, while Geneva is ranked 147th).
Meanwhile, Conneaut's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They fell 60-48 to St. John.
Conneaut's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kayla Farley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds, and Alexis Kiser who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Alexis Warner was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Lakeside's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Conneaut, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
Lakeside took a serious blow against Conneaut in their previous matchup back in January, falling 69-27. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Conneaut's Isabella Fix, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds.
