Softball Recap: Yucca Valley Wins Going Away Against Coachella Valley

Yucca Valley hadn't done well against Coachella Valley recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Mighty Arabs with a sharp 15-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Hannah Cusack was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayla Monroy, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Yucca Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Yucca Valley and bumps their season record up to 9-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Coachella Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, Yucca Valley and Coachella Valley will both be playing Twentynine Palms the next time they take the field. The Trojans will head out to face the Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, while the Mighty Arabs will host them at 3:15 p.m. on the 28th.
