Softball Recap: Grant Takes a Loss

Grant had lost nine straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it ten. They came up short against the Sherman Oaks CES Knights, falling 15-2. The Lancers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in February of 2023.

As for Sherman Oaks CES, the win keeps they at an undefeated 17-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 19.3 runs this season.

For Sherman Oaks CES' part, Stella Brewer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. That's the most strikeouts Brewer has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reagan Rosenthal, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Sandoval, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Grant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sherman Oaks CES, they will square off against East Valley at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.36 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
