After a string of seven wins, Crimson Cliffs's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell 3-1 to the Dixie Flyers. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Flyers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
While Crimson Cliffs ultimately came up short, they really made Dixie work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23.
Despite the loss, Crimson Cliffs still got an impressive performance from Lily Jones, who had 33 digs and four assists. Jones is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Payton Pond also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Crimson Cliffs' loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-2. As for Dixie, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crimson Cliffs will welcome Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dixie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Stansbury at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
