Basketball Recap: Hadassah Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Waukegan over New Trier

Waukegan fought the good fight in their overtime game against New Trier on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the New Trier Trevians 53-49. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Trevians recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Waukegan's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hadassah Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Brown's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Baakir Christian, who went 6 of 13 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Waukegan's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for New Trier, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-12.

Waukegan will head out to challenge Warren Township at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Warren Township: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Waukegan has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. As for New Trier, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Conant at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Conant will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something New Trier surely won't give up without a fight.
