Softball Recap: New Kent Finds Home Field Redemption Against Poquoson

There's no place like home for New Kent, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on the Poquoson Islanders with a sharp 11-1 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Kenley Rowe was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Hannah Tober was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

New Kent always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

New Kent pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Poquoson, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

New Kent and Poquoson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. The Trojans will square off against Lafayette at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (62 vs. 292). Meanwhile, Poquoson (ranked 28th) will meet Tabb (ranked 163rd) at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
