Baseball Recap: Downey Comes Up Short

Downey lost against Atwater back in April of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Downey Knights fell just short of the Atwater Falcons by a score of 4-3.

Downey saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Ortega, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Ortega also got a hit, marking his first of the season.

Downey's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Atwater, their record now sits at 4-2.

Looking ahead, Downey will square off against Lodi at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lodi is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Atwater, they will challenge Sierra at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Atwater 3.5, Sierra 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
