Volleyball Game Preview: Benet Academy Redwings vs. Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers

After both having extra time off, the Benet Academy Redwings and the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Benet Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

Benet Academy can't be too worried about heading out to take on Joliet Catholic: they just beat Neuqua Valley at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Redwings had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 2-1 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Redwings have posted since April 26th.

Benet Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-17, 27-25.

Meanwhile, Joliet Catholic came into Tuesday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Marian Catholic 2-1.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Joliet Catholic got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 21-25, 25-16.

Joliet Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 14-18. As for Benet Academy, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-6.

Benet Academy beat Joliet Catholic 2-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Redwings repeat their success, or do the Hilltoppers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
