Recap: Rio Mesa Spartans vs. Dos Pueblos Chargers
The Rio Mesa Spartans can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 71-59 victory over Dos Pueblos. The victory was just what Rio Mesa needed coming off of a 73-48 loss in their prior contest.
Rio Mesa's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Knowles, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Knowles has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodney Adams jr., who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Rio Mesa's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14. As for Dos Pueblos, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Mesa's road trip will continue as they head out to face Buena at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Hopefully Buena focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Dos Pueblos, they will head out on the road to face off against Santa Barbara at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Santa Barbara will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
