Softball Recap: Union County Braves vs. Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons

Union County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Union County of the 9-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture last Tuesday.

Audrey Staley was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Hargrove, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Union County now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, their win bumped their record up to 16-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union County will challenge Henderson County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madisonville-North Hopkins, they will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against McCracken County at 6:00 p.m. McCracken County will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Madisonville-North Hopkins surely won't give up without a fight.
