Football Game Preview: Batavia Bulldogs vs. Wheaton North Falcons + Official Tickets

The Batavia Bulldogs will face off against the Wheaton North Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wheaton North took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Batavia, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Batavia needed a bit of extra time to put away Geneva. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Vikings 24-21. Those 24 points were actually the fewest the Bulldogs have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Batavia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Vander Luitgaren, who threw for 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Bulldogs' leading receiver Darin Ashiru was Vander Luitgaren's top target yet again, picking up 110 receiving yards and one TD.

Batavia's run defense was locked in: Geneva could only muster 1.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Tony Minnec for the heroic effort on defense: he. Batavia's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.4.

Batavia's defense didn't let Ben Peterson, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Nick Jansey and Minnec, who racked up 4.5 sacks between them. Minnec is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Wheaton North's offense. The contest between the Falcons and Wheaton-Warrenville South didn't end well, with the Falcons falling 14-0. The Falcons just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Batavia's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Wheaton North, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
