Softball Recap: Smithfield Wins Going Away Against Manor

It's playoff time, and Smithfield had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Manor Mustangs 20-0 on Thursday. Considering the Packers have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Peyton Gilliam, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Debusk, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Smithfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manor only posted an OBP of .278.

The win snapped Smithfield's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Manor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-14.

Coming up, Smithfield will face off against Gloucester at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Packers will need to watch out since the Dukes have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests. Manor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
