Baseball Recap: Clark Takes a Loss

If Clark was feeling good fresh off their 8-0 takedown of Judson on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Clark Cougars fell just short of the Eagle Pass Eagles by a score of 5-4 on Friday. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in February of 2021.

Clark got a good showing from Luis Gutierrez, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Peter Florez-King was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Jerry Brightwell was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Clark's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Eagle Pass, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Clark will be playing at home against Cornerstone Christian at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eagle Pass, they will head out on the road to square off against Churchill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
