Basketball Game Preview: Saluda Tigers vs. Greenwood Eagles

The Saluda Tigers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Greenwood Eagles at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Saluda knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Greenwood likes a good challenge.

While Saluda didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past McCormick 59-35 on Friday. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.

Greenwood has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 53-45 to Mauldin on Thursday. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Saluda pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.3 points. As for Greenwood, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

Saluda came up short against Greenwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, falling 74-61. Can Saluda avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
