Softball Game Preview: Donna Redskins vs. Edcouch-Elsa Yellowjackets

Donna hasn't had much luck against Edcouch-Elsa recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Redskins are taking a road trip to take on the Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Friday just wasn't the day for Donna's offense. They lost 19-0 to Harlingen South on Friday. The Redskins' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Meanwhile, Edcouch-Elsa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Lopez, falling 10-3.

Mila Pedraza put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Pedraza wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Melody Soto, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Edcouch-Elsa's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Donna, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18-1.

Donna suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Edcouch-Elsa when the teams last played back in March. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
